Annual Appeal 2020-2021

The year has been uncertain and unprecedented. Much of the world stopped during COVID and, for all us, life changed quickly. Much became unpredictable, isolating, and challenging. We were fearful about a virus we knew little about. Some lost jobs, many were separated from their families and support systems, and others found themselves struggling to put food on the table. While much of the world paused, Samaritan Center’s services continued. While operations shifted quickly to take-out meals, we remained committed to providing the most basic of needs, food, for individuals and families in crisis.

The anxieties of the pandemic have been difficult for all of us but perhaps even more so for the guests of the Samaritan Center. Many of those we serve, found small social universes compressed even further. Older guests, living alone in one bedroom apartments, and our limited-mobility guests, relying on Samaritan for many of their social connections, were particularly impacted.

Last year more than 135,000 meals were provided for individuals and families in need. Through direct case management support and partnerships with community agencies, more than 1,700 guests were assisted with housing, employment, household goods, diapers, stimulus applications or legal assistance - fundamental supports that help our guests toward self-sufficiency. With all that, the human connection remains paramount. This year we need to raise $285,000 because the need has never been greater. Together, we CAN make a difference for so many. Thank you for making a gift today to support this work. With your help, we can continue to shine brightly for those in need.
